How to Undress a Victorian Lady
Historical romance authors were taught how to undress their Victorian heroines in a packed hotel conference room last summer at the Romance Writers of America’s annual convention. Romance fiction brings in over 1 billion in sales each year with thousands of new titles published annually. The romance genre has several sub-genres, including Historical Romance; these titles are set in an earlier time period than the mid-20th century. At the 2011 Romance Writers of America’s convention in New York, romance novelist Deeanne Gist gave a demonstration to fellow authors on how to dress (more importantly strip down) their Victorian heroines. Equipped with all the required layers of Victorian clothing and accessories, Ms. Gist began her presentation scantily dressed in a chemise.
