Kids Day at a Victorian Estate

on June 15, 2010 – 3:13 am

Children discover popular Victorian Era toys and pastimes during “Kids Day” at the Emlen Physick Estate in Cape May, New Jersey. The grounds of the 1879 Estate are transformed into a festival of fun, entertaining and educational activities that kids of all ages can enjoy on Wednesday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn what life was like more than a century ago as you tromp around the grounds of the Estate and enjoy bubble-blowing, hat-making, face painting, dress-up, book signings by children’s book authors and illustrators, Victorian games and more!

Children can experience the Victorian world on their level with special kid-friendly tours of the Physick Estate mansion. Admission to “Kids Day” is $5 for children (ages 3 to 12) and free for adults. “Teddy Bear Tea Parties” at the Carriage House Tearoom and Café located on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., are served at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and cost $18 for adults and $10 for children (ages 3-12).

“Kids Day” is sponsored by the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities (MAC). MAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Cape May’s heritage. MAC also fosters the performing arts. MAC membership is open to all.
