Parquet Hardwood Flooring for a Victorian House

By the mid-19th century, the floors of many large Victorian homes were inlaid with variously colored hardwood arranged in geometrical patterns. This branch of decorative art was known as parquetry. Parquet hardwood flooring borders were supplied at a price which was scarcely greater per superficial foot than that paid for a good Brussels carpet.
