The event not only raises money for two County-wide non-profits, but also brings awareness to some of the historic buildings in downtown Napa.

“We want to highlight how historic buildings can be a vital part of our downtown.  The buildings are beautiful and we are thrilled to have citizens who own these locations and maintain them,” says Kristie Sheppard, NCHS Executive Director. “We hope that this event will also bring business to downtown.”

No reservations are required.  707.255.1836 or charlotte@napacountylandmarks.org.

Carpe Diem Wine Bar is located on Second Street in the historic Alexandria Hotel, better known as the Plaza Hotel, and was built in 1910.

Bounty Hunter Rare Wine & Provisions is located on First Street, near the Napa River.  Napa’s foremost architect, Luther Turton, designed this building for Italian immigrant grocer Bartolemeo Semorile. It is Napa’s finest brick structure, beautifully blending in features such as the cast iron balcony railing, balustrade, and Corinthian columns.

Ristorante Allegria on First Street was erected in 1916 as the First National Bank, and was done in the classic style favored by American banks. Napa County Landmarks revived this building in 1994 after it stood vacant for five years. Today the vault serves as a private dining room.

Built in 1875 by Philip Pfeiffer, the Pfeiffer Building, now home to Vintner’s Collective, is the oldest commercial stone building in the City of Napa.  Its incarnations include a brewery, saloon, grocery, home and hatchery.  This building is most well known as the Sam Kee Laundry, and was in business at this location until 1977.  In the 1980s it was home to Andrews Meat Company and Deli.  After renovation and restoration, the building was opened as Vintner’s Collective in 2002.

The Napa County Historical Society is Napa County’s preeminent research facility for local history.  The Society is dedicated to the discovery, preservation and presentation of the people and history of Napa County and its place in California history. Its purpose is to keep history alive through historical research, publications and educational activities. For more information visit www.napahistory.org.
