Chamber Garments for the Victorian Gentleman

The indoor outfits of the well-dressed, but frivolous, 19th century gentleman are scrutinized by The Haberdasher. The street garments of the well-to-do leisure class Victorian gentleman are costly enough, but there are numerous special garments—chamber garments, so to speak—in which these gentlemen are exceeding curious and lavish. To begin with, their wardrobes are high-priced even in sleep, for they sleep in nothing less luxurious than silk. Night shirts? Certainly not. The fashionable gentleman wears only pajamas and silk pajamas at that.
